Quiz 1 will cover all the content from the beginning of the class up to and including Lecture 10.
Logistics
- In-person here in our normal classroom during class time (ANU Students please keep an eye out for an email from me this 1 week before with accommodations details)
- Taken on the Lockdown Browser on your personal computer; details on how to set it up are on our Canvas page
- If you cannot connect your computer to eduroam, notify Prof. Bain ASAP
- Make sure to bring your Wildcard to class and have it easily accessible.
- Practice Quizzes available on Canvas
- there’s also tips on how to use a Practice Quiz effectively
- there will be two versions: one that requires the Lockdown Browser (so you can test that you’ve got it setup correctly) and one that does not so you can take it and refer to other resources as you study
- As early as possible, setup the LDB and use it to open the assignment `Practice Quiz 1a (LDB)` to verify that everything works correctly on your computer
- We’ll do additional review on Monday in-class (which will count as a Mini-Quiz)
Style and Content
The questions will be more like the practice quizzes on Canvas and more akin to the Mini-Quizzes than the homework exercises. This is because the homework exercises are designed to take a larger amount of time than, for example, the shorter problems we tackle in class. That being said, as you’ll see in Practice Quiz 1a, there will be questions that depend on you having completed the Exercise assignments by your self. If you relied heavily on other’s help to complete the Exercises, you should revisit those assignments and make sure you understand them and could complete them by yourself!
Other Study Materials
- Study Guide: the highlighted functions you should be able to use without any reminders about their parameters.
- Short practice topic-quizzes, some of which have generated questions (i.e. you can take them many times).
- Full Length (+ a little more) Practice Quiz 1a on Canvas
- LDB Version which perfectly emulates what things will look like for the real deal
- Full Length Practice Quiz 1b on Canvas
- Checkout the recommended readings on each lecture page
- Interested in Quick Overviews of course content? Seva (our Grad TA) is in the process of recording videos doing both quick overviews of stuff we cover in-class and deep dives of things we don’t cover. I’ll update them as they get uploaded here:
- Talking to Python (Roughly Lectures 3 - 8)
